Google Sheets Integration
Google Sheets integration is available on the Team tier only. Each channel gets its own Google Sheet, linked from Lixir's App Home — you can either create a brand new sheet or paste the URL of an existing one.
Setup
- Open Lixir's App Home tab in Slack.
- Scroll to the Meeting Backlogs section. Each channel with deferred items shows a 🔗 Link Google Sheet button.
- In the modal, choose:
- Create a new sheet — pick a name and Lixir creates the spreadsheet in your Google Drive with a pre-built
Backlogtab. - Link an existing sheet — paste the Google Sheets URL; Lixir verifies edit access and reads back the title for confirmation.
- Create a new sheet — pick a name and Lixir creates the spreadsheet in your Google Drive with a pre-built
- The first time you link a sheet in a workspace, Lixir redirects you through Google OAuth. On subsequent links the modal completes immediately.
Sheet as Mirror
The Slack List is the primary backlog — it's what /agenda reads from and what gets cleared after a meeting. The Google Sheet is a parallel mirror: every item deferred to the backlog is written to the sheet at the same time it's added to the Slack List. The two are always in sync going forward.
This means /agenda works exactly as before regardless of whether a sheet is linked.
What Gets Synced
Lixir writes the following columns to the Backlog tab of each channel's sheet:
- Title
- Context
- Ask
- Asked By (Slack user id)
- Status
- Date added
- Slack permalink
When an item is marked Discussed from /agenda, its status cell is updated in place. The sheet is append-only — rows are never deleted. This means the sheet serves as a permanent decision history even after items are cleared from the Slack List at the end of a meeting.
Per-Channel Mirrors
Each channel maps to exactly one sheet. Linking a new sheet to a channel replaces the previous link for that channel — the prior sheet is left untouched in your Drive. Use Unlink in App Home to stop syncing without replacing the sheet.
Disconnecting
Unlinking a sheet in App Home stops syncing that channel's backlog. To fully revoke Lixir's Google access, delete your Lixir Google connection via the Delete my data button in App Home, or revoke via Google account permissions.
OAuth Scopes
Lixir requests the minimum set of Google scopes:
spreadsheets— read and write the sheets it creates or you link.drive.file— create new spreadsheets and access files you explicitly link via Lixir. This scope does not grant access to any other files in your Drive.
